Library Cards and Regulations
Everyone can make use of the different offers of the library. Usually the library offers are for free, but certain services may require payment or a deposit.
You medical card functions as your library card at the library.
You must bring your library card every time you wish to borrow material and you can only borrow material on your own card.
Contact the library immediately to report a lost or stolen library card. Thereafter the card is blocked for further loans to avoid abuse.
PIN codes
A PIN code can be set up in connection your library card. You can use it if you wish to book, reserve or renew material or if you wish to see you status of borrowed items on our website. If you would like a new PIN code, please contact library staff.
Loan period
The loan period is usually 30 days, however, the period can be shorter on certain types of material. The loan period will always appear on the call slip you receive when borrowing material. The loan period can be extended if the material is not booked for other borrowers. (Does not apply for quick loans). The total period of loan can’t exceed more than three months.
The same rules apply for material borrowed from other libraries.
You can’t borrow reading room material or the newest newspapers and magazines.
Registrations of loans
You loans will be registered in the computer system of the library. You receive a call slip that registers what you have borrowed and when it is due back. If you wish for a receipt when you return the material you must point it out to the staff before the staff commences the registration of returned books. If you return material in the library mailbox, the returning is at the borrower’s own risk. You should be aware of the fact that the material is not registered as returned until the library opens again.
Responsibility for your loans
The borrower is responsible for the material borrowed on his or her library card. If the material is damaged or lost, material replacement costs must be compensated for. The price of material compensation cost is usually the cost price of the material plus an additional charge for preparing the material for loan. Larger series of connected material can be required totally replaced.
Concerning replacement of audiovisual materials (VHS, CD-ROM, etc.), the amount includes royalties.
Replaced material belongs to the library. If you locate the lost material within one year, it should be returned and the material replacement cost will be refunded if you have the receipt for the paid amount. The overdue charge of the receipt will not be refunded.
The library does not accept any responsibility for any damages on your own hardware or software in connection with the use of borrowed material.

The library issues a recall when the material is overdue by 8 days but you must pay overdue charges even if you by chance have not received the recall.
Note: we will only issue one recall.
You will receive a bill of material replacement costs plus overdue charges when the material is overdue by 43 days. Simultaneously, you will be warned that your library card will be blocked if the outstanding account is not paid within seven days. Then the case will be taken over by public collection.
As soon as the outstanding account is settled, you will be able to borrow material at the library again. When you return material, which is overdue, and to which a bill has been issued, you are not required to replace the material, only to pay the outstanding fee.
Loss of borrowing privileges
The library can deny you the right to borrow material from the library if you have not returned library material, if you have unpaid outstanding fees for items returned late or unpaid compensations for items damaged or lost.
Unpaid outstanding fees of 200 kroner or more will result in loss of borrowing privileges.
Confidentiality
Library staff is bound to observe professional secrecy with regards to your loans and reservations, both from the local and other libraries.
What is the library allowed to register?
Personal identification is by name, address, social security number (CPR-number), telephone number and e-mail address, if necessary. A copy of the registered information is always available at the library.
We register all the material that you check out. We keep the information of your loans for 30 days after you have returned the borrowed material and paid possible fees for returning the material late. Afterwards, all information of your loans is deleted. According to the Law of Treatment of Personal Data, the library is not allowed to keep any data of your previous loans.
